Springfield Little Theatre opens its 84th season with "Newsies," a 2012 Broadway musical nominated for eight Tony awards, winning two. With songs by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and book by Harvey Fierstein, the tale inspired by the New York City newsboys strike of 1899 boasts a cast of 30. Longtime favorites Kim Crosby and Rick Dines play the parents of a graphic artist whose identity issues mirror those of her eccentric father, owner of a funeral home (the "fun home" of the title).
